With technology and automation evolving, the role of a data scientist is increasing in numbers and need. This information came to us from Tech Target in their article, “A future data scientist needs business, deep learning skills.”
The future data scientist role may look different, with a heavier focus on business operations and oversight, not just technical skills.
Automation is the biggest factor causing change to the data scientist role. As those automated capabilities mature, the focus for the future data scientist will shift from the task-oriented role to a strategic oversight role.
From a skills perspective, that means there will be also be a shift in training. Data scientists will need to focus more on machine learning and other emerging technologies. They also will need to have the skill sets to convince business stakeholders to trust how their models make decisions and that those decisions will add business value.
