There has been a huge impact on many industries due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Travel has been hit the hardest with oil and supply chains following close behind. However, if there is any upside to this latest pandemic, it is the impact on technology, specifically those that enable deployed and remote workers to be productive from home. The Verge brought this interesting information to us in their article, “Google and Microsoft are giving away enterprise conferencing tools due to coronavirus.”

The ongoing coronavirus outbreak has pushed more companies and organizations to transition to remote work. As a result, both Google and Microsoft have said they will grant access to their more robust teleconferencing and collaboration tools that are typically only available to enterprise customers to make it easier for people to work from home. Both companies are only offering free access for a limited time.

Another non-related benefit is the air pollution has greatly decreased in China. I guess when industries are shut down, they are no longer polluting the air.
