Artificial intelligence (AI) is not about robots and automated human-like beings, despite what the years of science fiction movies have tried to tell us. This interesting information came to us from Tech Republic in their article, “5 practical reasons to embrace artificial intelligence.”
People still have some level of fear around AI, and there may be some valid reasons for that. However, there are many more reasons why people should accept AI. Right now, one of the biggest reasons is its contribution to fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
In a typical household, there is already AI present in some form. Vacuum cleaners, HVAC systems, streaming services, security systems and smart assistants in the form of smart speakers may all be powered by AI through the Internet of things. These are all beneficial for the average family, but imagine how helpful they are to senior citizens and people with disabilities. More than 1 billion people around the world have disabilities, and AI can help them by enabling computers to hear, see and reason.
This is just a drop in the bucket. The future is ripe with new AI technology and applications.
