Natural language processing (NLP) and natural language understanding (NLU) are often-confused technologies that make search more intelligent and ensure people can search and find what they want. That intelligence is semantic search.

Semantic search has long been a component in the technology of tech giants such as Google, Amazon and Netflix. Semantic search unlocks the door to many products and applications, the scope of which is unknown but already broad. Search engines, autocorrect, translation, recommendation engines, error logging and much more are already heavy users of semantic search.
