Living with AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a figment of the imaginations of science fiction authors. This technology is now paving its way to establishing itself subtly or not so subtly in our everyday lives. Venture Beat brought this interesting information to our attention in their article, “How to use data analytics to improve quality of life.”

Technology has a reputation for being impersonal. It’s easy to think of machine-driven AI, 3D and biomechanics software as science fiction. But when pointed at the right problem, advanced data analytics solutions have the power to change human lives for the better.

The real challenge is that most organizations have minimal knowledge on how AI systems make their decisions, and consequently, they have little insight regarding how to apply AI and machine learning results.

Explainable AI allows users to comprehend and trust the results and output created by machine learning algorithms. Explainable AI is used to describe an AI model, its expected impact, and its potential biases. Explainability becomes critical when the results can have an impact on data security or safety.

While there will definitely be difficulties as AI technology evolves, the positive effect it will have on society in terms of efficiency is immeasurable.
