The ISO 25964 standard for Controlled Vocabularies is going under revision. You are invited to attend a brainstorming session to gather perspectives, suggested changes, etc. This standard includes taxonomies, thesauri, and related knowledge organization systems.

This particular standard was first created in 1974 and has been reaffirmed several times. Much has changed in the taxonomy world since the creation in 1993 of both the British Standards Institute 8723 and the American National Information Standards Organization (NISO) Z39.19. NISO is part of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

There is no fee to attend, but visitors must use this sign up. Further supporting materials will be sent closer to the event.

The meeting will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. (ET) at the JW Marriott, Washington, DC (the day before the start of the Taxonomy Boot Camp / KMWorld meeting held in that same hotel).

We like consistency and standards. It might be the reason we do business in taxonomies. Choose the right partner in technology, especially when your content is in their hands. Access Innovations is known as a leader in database production, standards development, and creating and applying taxonomies.
