Adaptive has released their web-based platform, Adaptive Business Glossary Manager (BGM), which provides a framework to help organizations define and communicate consistent business vocabulary and align glossary terms. This platform is available in the Cloud or behind the firewall. It can substantially improve data governance and management while reducing exposure to compliance risk.
Law firms are always looking for a seamless and efficient process and/or product to manage their digital and physical records. As documents and emails are saved to eDOCS DM, they are automatically categorized and electronically filed in RM using the appropriate Client/Matter File Plan and Retention Schedule. A database is only as good as the data entered and the search tool being used to explore it. With that in mind, the Energy Department’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) has taken steps to improve their databases by releasing a reference tool that uses semantic search techniques. MEDLINE citations are manually indexed at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), using as reference the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) controlled vocabulary. In the past, human indexers read the full text of the article to properly index. Apple recently purchased Topsy, a social media analytics company. This move left some folks wondering why. For some, the answer was clear - search, old search to be exact. In a move to challenge Google's reign as the premier search engine, Apple's $200 million dollar purchase is intended to provide new levels of recommendations based on Topsy's data. Don't scoff at the price, there are billions of dollar in play when you are talking about the game of search.
