Bing is Beefing up the News

July 1, 2010 – Recent changes made to Bing’s search facility seems to have boosted the power of their online news.

DirectNews shared this news in their article, “Bing explains online news search changes”.  The company has improved both news query intent and the indexing of news articles as part of the overhaul, as well as looked at ways of enhancing the local online news experience for users. Jacquelyn Krones of Bing states

“Now it’s the perfect place to start your day: get the headlines, figure out what to wear based on the forecast and really get into the details on stories that interest you the most.”

With Google’s recent release of Caffeine promising faster indexing and real-time results in the social realm, it seems that Bing is focusing their extra power in the online news arena.
