March 11, 2011 – The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) marked a milestone recently when it officially reached 150 years of producing and delivering government documents for all three branches of the Federal Government and the public.
PIWorld brought this interesting piece of news to our attention in their article, ”GPO Celebrates 150 Years of Keeping America Informed.” This agency is a prime example of using constantly changing technologies to meet the needs of the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and the public. Early on, employees relied on ink and paper to set the text for “The Emancipation Proclamation.” Today, the latest digital technology is being used to document the actions of our government.
Digital information technologies continue to define this generation. The GPO is joining in, now with a web and social media presence.
