A connection between beer and taxonomy development might not be obvious, but it is there if you give it more thought. The world’s most comprehensive beer taxonomy is now bigger than ever. A new poster design features 89 varieties of beer with over 200 representative quaffs, including glassware recommendations for each variety, and covers six square feet with beer-soaked information.
A taxonomy is a knowledge organization system, usually for a specific subject area. In this particular case, the subject area is beer. This helps to clarify and define the terms involved with beer. It is fun, even tasty, but in the end very educational. This humorous, but informative use of a taxonomy was found on the blog Cat 5, in their post, “A delicious infographic.”
