Big data continues to be a challenge for many. A large EU-funded project has filed for several patents for this sole reason. WeKnowIt is designed to convert large amounts of user-generated content into ‘a new, collective intelligence’.
We found this interesting information on iProgrammer in their article, “7.5 Million Euros Spent on Collective Intelligence.” Coordinated by Dr Yiannis Kompatsiaris of the Greek Centre for Technology and Research, the project is focused on mining the type of data generated by social tagging and networking. This is in response to the feeling that current applications do not fully support intelligent processing and management of data. Media intelligence, mass intelligence, and social intelligence are the three types of information currently being mined.
