Social Media Data Continues to Grow

This interesting news was brought to us by MarketWatch in their article, “Social Media Monitoring Leader Sysomos Indexes 100,000,000,000th Post.” Sysomos collects social media data in real time from online sources, including blogs,  Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. Then they query, analyze, and report from the entire dataset with amazing speed.

One hundred billion may not sound like a huge accomplishment, considering the vast amount of data being produced daily on the Internet. However, for comparison, consider that 48 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute, Twitter users send over 100,000 tweets every minute, and Google receives over 2,000,000 search queries every minute.
