Ginger Software has received extended funding for its language recognition software that is designed to help users master English as a second language.

Venture Beat brought this news to our attention in their article, “Ginger Software digests $5M to help people master English.” What Ginger offers above other services that teach English is the use of natural language processing for context and proofreading. They seek out linguistics patterns for non-native speakers on the most contextually appropriate way to express their intended meaning. This context provides an additional level of understanding and in turn, learning.

It is nice to see the faith in semantic technology, evidenced by the financial investment. It will be interesting to see how far this technology will take us.
