The semantic web is inspiring interest by Fujitsu Ireland and local scientists who are forming a research alliance. Since the semantic web is a collaborative movement led by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the inclusion of semantic content in web pages seems a natural fit. Computer World UK brought this information to our attention in their article, “Ireland and Fujitsu aim to cash in on semantic web.”

Fujitsu will begin the research with the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), based at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The research will be conducted in the area of networked knowledge, with the identification of new models and commercial opportunities for exploiting static and dynamic data on the Internet. All of this will make the data more accessible and valuable to users.
