The publisher Brill has announced a new suite of open access journals covering four major disciplines – Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Biology. These journals will offer a pure open access environment. Each journal will be divided in sections that align with the major subject areas in the discipline. Knowledge Speak brought this interesting news to us in their article, “Brill announces new suite of open access journals.”  Once accepted, papers will be published online in just one month.  The new Brill Open journals will open for submissions this August.

Each of the four new journals will have a dedicated editorial board and undergo the same peer review and uphold the same publication standards that Brill is known for. The journals are published on Brill’s existing books and journals platform and are online only. The content and metadata will be distributed as usual for indexing and discovery purposes.

Proper indexing against a strong standards-based taxonomy increases the findability of data. Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients generate ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
