Despite the title, the RICHES Project has nothing to do with money in the sense of cash, investments, or gold. The Renewal, Innovation and Change: Heritage and European Society (RICHES) project came about because of digital technologies. RICHES is focusing on a new approach and perspective for institutions and artists who are using new technologies and digital facilities to redefine cultural heritage.

One of RICHES’ main objectives is to understand the impact that digital technologies have on European cultural heritage. The development of a taxonomy will provide the conceptual framework for the research program.

Developing a classification system organized into conceptually similar categories can help users gain a better understanding of the taxonomy subject area. It is important to remember the value of a solid taxonomy and its role in the search process.
