With each passing day, the fallout from the United Kingdom (UK) leaving the European Union (EU) keeps revealing itself. ZDNet brought this news to us in their article, “Brexit spells turbulence for cloud computing: 6 stormy scenarios.”
For large cloud computing vendors, the impact will be about the data center build-outs. There will be some uncertainty ahead and it won’t all be about the currency hit alone. UK data center plans by large cloud providers may go on hold, while United States cloud providers are building out data centers in the EU as well as the UK. With the departure, there will be new laws and regulations in place for cloud providers, which also means additional costs to cloud providers.
Tomorrow may bring new concerns and revelations of potential problems. It could literally take months to realize the full impact. There was already uncertainty in the global economy and now businesses face a prolonged period of uncertainty.
