Consistency is so important in every aspect of business. When considering the software tools and systems to best support efficient and collaborative document control in distributed cross team environments, consistency in process and standards is critical to produce a sustainable solution. This interesting topic came to us from CIO Review in their article, “People, Process, and Standards are Crucial for Document Management Success.”

Standards provide people and organizations with a basis for mutual understanding, and are used as tools to facilitate communication, measurement, commerce and manufacturing. Standards form the basis for the introduction of new technologies and innovations, and ensure that products, components and services supplied by a variety of sources will be mutually compatible.

Standardization of infrastructure is important. As projects continue to grow in complexity, putting the best industry solutions into a common information systems environment and applying people, processes, and standards provides for better operational decision.

Of course, we’re all for standards. Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients develop ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
