Technology and the Internet has created a new definition of the word connectedness. We are more connected than ever. This is due to many things, including the adoption of many digital transformation technologies such as the Internet of Things and cloud computing and the emergence big data in both big and small businesses. This interesting information came to us from ISACA in their article, “Cybersecurity Strategies to Enable Digital Trust.”

Connectedness has benefits and downsides. Together we are better, but for cybersecurity concerns – it can snowball a problem extremely quickly. How can we trust our connections?

One major component of digital transformation that can be used to measure its effectiveness is digital trust, which is defined as consumer confidence in how data are processed, stored, and protected. The role of cybersecurity in data protection and privacy is crucial. It is an enabler of digital trust and a key success factor of the digital transformation journey. Metadata makes digital content findable and consistently available by describing it accurately, and it is another feature contributing to digital trust.

Findability, however, works only when a proper taxonomy is in place. Proper indexing against a strong standards-based taxonomy increases the findability of data. Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients generate ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
