August 26, 2010 –SAS Text Analytics was named a Trend Setting Product for 2010 by KMWorld magazine. SAS’s product locates and retrieves relevant data and lets customers obtain insights from electronic text, improve search results and derive intelligence to determine their best course of action.

BusinessWire shared this news in their article, “SAS® Text Analytics Named Trend Setting Product for 2010.” According to KM World magazine, which provided the honor, SAS draws on analytics expertise to process unstructured documents that result in a reduction of manual labor, workflow improvement and reduction of operating costs for customers.

SAS Text Analytics components include enterprise content categorization, with add-on modules that offer Web crawling, search and indexing, text summarizing and more; ontology management; text mining; and sentiment analysis, which automatically locates and extracts sentiment from the Internet, social networking sites and internal electronic documents to respond more quickly and effectively.

This new “trend” is useful for discovery, but don’t forget that indexing without a complete, ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomy that increases the findability of information is just that, trendy.
