November 11, 2010 – The United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded Guid with a patent for its method of helping organizations quickly and efficiently search for data within the corporate universe. This system is known as EnCase(R) Enterprise.
MarketWatch brought this news to our attention in their article, “Guidance Software Secures Search Patent from U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.” The patented system enables Guidance Software to search live data remotely, from the original sources, from multiple machines at the same time. The results are actionable for e-discovery, forensics and other computer investigations. Unlike other systems that must first index the data before it is searchable, Guidance Software does not use pre-indexing.
Search is nice, but find is better and in the end, getting the information you need, efficiently and reliably, is the goal of a taxonomic strategy
