Springer Science+Business Media is extending its collaboration with TEMIS to work on semantic enrichment and content linking for the SpringerLink platform.

This interesting piece of news was found on eContent in their article, “Springer and TEMIS Further Semantic Collaboration.” With TEMIS’s Luxid platform that combines linguistic and statistical methods to calculate semantic relationships among SpringerLink’s millions of publications, each available article or book chapter can be recommended as a relevant, related document.

It is nice to see this use of semantic technology. However, without the thorough indexing against a solid taxonomy, semantic technology can’t make the connections necessary for true findability.
