Publishing Metadata Becomes More Valuable

Bowker has been selected by book retailer Books-A-Million to supply metadata related to printed books, e-books, and audio books. Bowker metadata will be used to feed both internal and external systems supporting the firm’s purchasing needs and providing bibliographic and identifier information in stores and on the website.

We found this interesting news in Daily Markets in their article, “Books-A-Million Chooses Bowker For Identifier Services.” The publishing world has been affected by the world of technology more than any other. More people are building and implementing taxonomies. The awareness of controlled vocabularies and their applications continues to grow.
