Recognition for Semantic Web Contributions

Professor Deborah L. McGuinness has been selected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). McGuinness’ research as a web scientist is what AAAS cites as the reason for her recognition. Her contributions to the Semantic Web, knowledge representation, and reasoning environments will be part of the honor ceremony at its annual meeting in February 2014 in Chicago.

“Professor McGuinness’ work is helping us tap into the full potential of the information found on the Web,” said Laurie Leshin, dean of the School of Science at Rensselaer. “By advancing knowledge and discovery, her research will improve our lives. We congratulate her on this well-earned and prestigious recognition and we are proud to have her as a colleague at Rensselaer.”

This interesting news came from Phys.org in their article, “Rensselaer professor Deborah L. McGuinness named Fellow of the AAAS.”
