We learned in kindergarten that you can learn and play at the same time. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that someone has introduced an application to visualize thesauri, taxonomies, or controlled vocabularies in an entertaining manner.

With the free application – SKOS Play – users can print knowledge organization systems that use the SKOS data model in HTML or PDF documents, and visualize them in graphical representations. Demonstrating some of the possibilities of enterprise vocabularies usage and web of data technologies, SKOS Play also gives you a work-around to the 5000 concepts limit on the online server.

Linked data, along with taxonomies and controlled vocabularies, are quickly becoming mainstream for organizations. Publishers, especially, are embracing the needs for control over ever-growing collections. This fun tool can add to the experience for users.
